Memorable 2019 Cricket World Cup, Rohit's century, Morgan's six and finals controversy


Indian opener Rohit Sharma scored 648 runs in nine innings of the World Cup in England in June-July.  It had five centuries and a half-century.  For the first time in history, a player has scored five centuries in the World Cup.  Earlier Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakar scored four centuries in 2015.

 Stark equals McGrath

 Australian left arm paceman Mitchell Starc equaled 13 years ago's record of most wickets in a World Cup with 27 wickets.  He also took five wickets twice.  Before that, Australia's Glenn McGrath took 27 wickets in 2007.

 13 catches of root

 England batsman Joe Root impressed everyone with his fielding.  He caught 13 catches, the most catches by a player in a World Cup.  Prior to Root, Australian captain Ricky Ponting caught 11 catches in 2003.

 England becomes world winner amid disputes

 The father of cricket, England won the World Cup trophy for the first time in 44 years.  Although his victory was in controversy, his dream of becoming world champion was fulfilled.  England defeated New Zealand on a boundary basis in the final held on 14 July at the Mecca Lords of cricket.  Both teams scored 241–241 first.  After that, both teams were able to score 15–15 in the super over as well.  The tie was decided on the basis of fours and sixes in which England won.

 Kane Williamson's captaincy innings

 New Zealand captain Kane Williamson scored a total of 578 runs during the World Cup.  This is the highest run scored by any captain in a World Cup.  He also became the highest run-scorer in a World Cup for New Zealand.

 Rain of Morgan's sixes

 Captain Eoin Morgan, who made England the world champion for the first time, also made a big bang with his batting.  He single-handedly hit 17 skyscraper sixes in the match against Afghanistan.  During this, he broke Chris Gayle's record of hitting the most sixes (16) in an innings of the World Cup.  This match also took a total of 25 sixes against Afghanistan.

 Five half centuries of great

 Although Team India captain Virat Kohli could not score a single century in the entire World Cup, despite this, he made a special record in his name.  Virat became the first captain in the world to score five half-centuries in five consecutive innings of the World Cup.

 Shakib's all-round performance

 Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan became the first player to score more than 500 runs in a single World Cup as well as taking 10 wickets.  He became the only player to score more than 1,000 runs and take more than 30 wickets in the World Cup.  He scored 606 runs with the bat in the World Cup.
